Brian Cain
Principal

When it comes to corporate public affairs experience, Brian Cain has been there and done it all. Served in executive leadership roles for two multi-billion dollar, publicly traded energy companies? Check. Bell-ringing ceremonies at both major U.S. stock exchanges? You bet. Grilled by investors on earnings calls? Absolutely. Managed world-scale crises, fought ballot initiatives, negotiated with governors, struck deals with legislators and won permit votes to greenlight multi-million dollar, game-changing capital projects? All in a day’s work.

A public affairs executive with nearly 20 years of experience across the energy, chemicals, utilities and manufacturing industries, Cain feels equally at home debating in corporate boardrooms as he does shaking hands at county fairs. His deep expertise – in regulatory strategy, media relations, crisis management, government relations, sustainability and political advocacy – has been proven at the highest levels.

Cain most recently served as Senior Vice President & Chief Sustainability Officer for Civitas Resources, a $12 billion publicly traded company, where, as a founding executive, he created the award-winning sustainability program for the nation’s first carbon-neutral oil and natural gas producer (Scope 1 and 2). In prior roles, he served as Vice President of External Affairs and ESG Policy for Extraction Oil & Gas, a publicly traded oil and gas producer, and as a Vice President in the Energy and Crisis Practices for Hill & Knowlton Strategies, where he advised some of the world’s largest companies on public policy, regulatory, media and public affairs strategy. Cain also served previously in global spokesperson and government relations roles for Anadarko Petroleum and Chevron Phillips. He cut his teeth on his first U.S. senate campaign for then-Attorney General John Cornyn back in 2002 and began his career as a journalist, where his work was published in the New York Times.

Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a consistent ability to create and deliver differentiating value for his clients and shareholders. Cain holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and an MBA, with concentration in finance, from Tulane University.
